What does it remove?
This system will efficiently and effectively remove impurities in the water including rust, dirt and scale as well as chlorine, and most chemicals, herbicides and pesticides and harmful bacteria such as Crytosporidium and Giardia.
1st stage removes sediment such as dirt and rust.
2nd stage filters chemicals and odours out of the water supply.
3rd Stage removes heavy metals and FLUORIDE.
FLUORIDE is only removed thru REVERSE OSMOSIS PURIFICATION.
How do they work?
First, water passes through a 1 micron sediment cartridge, which removes large particles like silt, sand, rust, dirt, etc.
Second, the water passes through a carbon 1 micron cartridge that removes chlorine, some pesticides, herbicides and toxic chemicals.
Thirdly, water is forced through the Filmtec membrane. This filters down to a molecular level (1/10,000/micron). Any water that doesn’t filter through the membrane is impure water and is dumped down the drain. The filtered water is then stored in the supplied pressurized tank.
Finally, when you turn on the tap, the filtered water passes through a final carbon filter to provide the best pure water.

Culligan PureFlow Reverse Osmosis Filter System
The unique Culligan PureFlow filtration process ensures the very best in water quality. Your water is filtered four times using three different water treatment processes before it reaches your glass.
. Reverse Osmosis Membrane. The ultra-thin semi-permiable membrane to squeeze out harmful chemicals and microscopic impurities.
2. Particulate Filter. Screens out sediments and particles that cause cloudy water, even as small as one micron, that's 75 x smaller than the diameter of a human hair.
3. Activated Carbon Filter. The activated carbon filter reduces elements that cause water to taste and smell unpleasant, including chlorine.
4. Polishing Carbon Filter. The second carbon filter gives the added assurance that your drinking water is fresh and crystal clear.
5. Reservoir Tank. The durable, high quality steel tank ensures you'll have a plentiful supply of refreshing water.
6. Sentry Monitor. A unique design faucet continually monitors the reverse osmosis filtration system for optimum operation. Green means quality Culligan Water. Yellow mean's its time for the membrane to be changed.
7. Automatic Shut Off. This water saving device shuts off the system when the reservoir tank is full.
8. Designer Dispenser Tap. Delivers delicious water at the touch of a finger. Available in polished chrome or white.
The Culligan PureFlow system costs less per glass than bottled water and will supply up to 114 litres of pure, crystal clear, drinking water every day. You can use your PureFlow water for cooking and in a variety of other culinary ways to give you and your family:
- Clean, fresher tasking drinking water
- Better tasting coffee and tea
- More flavoursome soups, sauces and pasta
- Richer baby formula
- Clearer ice cubes
- Crisper fruits and vegetables
Why do I need to filter my water?
Water is sometimes known as the universal solvent. It has a tendency to dissolve a little bit of everything it touches. Dust, smoke from industry, carbon dioxide, bacteria , spores and even smog may be absorbed by water droplets.
By the time water returns to rivers, lakes or underground aquifers, it may have accumulated amounts of these elements along the way. Even after reaching a home, it can continue to dissolve materials such as lead from solder in plumbing pipes. An effective water filter should filter more than 95% of most of these contaminants with the added bonus of cleaner tasting, odour free water.
How do water filters work?
Most water filters work by passing the water through a filtration agent (physical, chemical or ultra-violet) removing or neutralising contaminants.
Physical barrier style filters remove suspended particles such as mud, silt, sand or rust as well as micro-organisms such as Giardia or Cryptosporidium. Physical filters are measured by microns. The smaller the micron number, the more types of particles can be removed.
Chemical processes can remove or neutralise potentially harmful contaminants. Depending on the type of contaminant, the filter elements can comprise of activated charcoal, copper or zinc.
Ultra-violet can destroy bacteria, viruses or pathogens in water. The ultra-violet light is typically encased in a tank where the water is treated either when in storage or is run through an ultra-violet canister.
What types of water filters are there?
There are many different types of systems from a carbon block, reverse osmosis, ozonation to ultra-violet treatments. Briefly:
Carbon Block. Water is forced through the pores of the densely compacted carbon block. This combination of mechanical filtration, electrokinetic adsorption, and physical/chemical adsorption can reduce chlorine, taste and odour problems and a wide range of contaminants of health concern. Carbon block water filters require no electricity, and do not add salt or silver to the water.
Culligan patented cartridge system. Based on a process known as Pre-coat, this patented technology has a pleated surface of activated carbon providing five times more surface area than conventional carbon block filters eliminating 99.9% of all particles 0.5 micron (150 times smaller than the width of a human hair) and larger. Find out more.
Granular Activated Carbon. Found in many portable jug or pitcher type filters. These filters can reduce chlorine, tastes and odours as the water flows through a bed of charcoal granules. These types of filters are not considered effective in reducing contaminants like cysts, pestici , lead or asbestos.
Reverse Osmosis (RO). Reverse Osmosis works by forcing water under pressure against an ultra fine semi-permeable membrane designed to allow single water molecules through, whilst rejecting most contaminants. The membrane also acts as a mechanical filter, filtering out virtually all particles cloudiness, micro-organisms, asbestos and even single molecules of heavier organic compounds. The RO membrane allows oxygen to pass through, so the final result doesn't have the flat taste of distilled water. Find out more.
Ultra Violet Treatment. UV systems pass water through a chamber where it is exposed to radiation. UV is very effective against many bacterial contaminants but can be hindered by particles and dirt. This method is most commonly used in waste water treatment.
Ozonation. Used by some public water facilities this process kills mainly bacteria. It takes longer to treat water this way and can create by-products such as formaldehyde and ketones which could lead to bacterial growth in the distribution pipes.
Ion Exchange (Deionisers / Deionizers). More commonly known as water softeners these do not necessarily filter or purify the water as they are mainly is used only to change the water hardness in many rural areas, or for industrial purposes. Water softeners only remove some types of contaminants, such as calcium, magnesium, lime, and iron that make water taste metallic and salty. Water softeners are generally used in conjunction with a water filter for home and drinking water use.
Are there cost benefits to filtering my water?
Yes. Apart from the environmental impact that in its production; bottled water costs more per litre than petrol. By installing a water filter in your home or office you are not only saving the environment, you can save money as well. Filtered water will add years to your appliance and fixtures, can reduce the need for as much detergent to wash clothes and dishes, and even your coloured clothing won’t fade as quickly. Plus, the long term financial and health costs of lifting and storing bottled water, especially in the office make the benefits of a filtered water system even more positive.
How do I choose which system is best for my needs?
The first step is to find out exactly the quality of your water and determine your personal requirements. Culligan offers professional in-house and laboratory water testing to ensure we understand exactly what is in your water. Then, combined with an in-depth discussion about your needs we can determine the best system to suit your situation. To book a Water Quality Test, please contact us, or call 1300 669 119 today.
What is hard water?
Water that contains calcium and magnesium is known as "hard". While many natural water supplies contain a certain amount of these two elements, most supplies range from 51.3 mg/l to 855 mg/l. These substances leave a "film" or scale on surfaces that the water touches. If left untreated, hard water will form lime scaling in pipes, water heaters, boilers, air conditioning systems, etc., causing inefficiency and sometimes even permanent damage. Hard water does not clean as effectively as soft water and can also result in the formation of soap curd that adheres to linen fibres, glassware, dishes, and other products and can leave an itchy or sticky build-up behind.
What are Giardia and Cryptosporidium?
The cysts that crippled Sydney’s water supply in 1998 can still be found in some municipal water supplies. Unlike bacteria, Giardia cysts and Cryptosporidium oocyst are more resistant to conventional water treatment, such as chlorination and ultraviolet irradiation.
Cryptosporidium parvum is a waterborne parasite encased in a leathery shell, or oocyst and causes severe flu-like symptoms when ingested. Once ingested, the walls of the oocyst are softened by the digestive fluids in the stomach and small intestine. Four tiny protozoa emerge and immediately begin to reproduce and infect the intestinal lining. This process impairs the small intestine’s ability to absorb water and nutrients, which causes the infected person to expel the oocyst through diarrhoea and vomiting. Water can become infected through contact with infected animal faeces or intestines and will pass freely through water treatment plants as it is not readily killed by chlorine.
Cryptosporidium is one of the most resistant parasites to water chemical treatments ever encountered. It responds somewhat to chlorine but only in very high doses and is resistant to many commonly used hospital and laboratory disinfectants. Cryptosporidium can be removed by boiling water at a rolling boil for at least 1 minute or more conveniently by a water filtration system that is 1 micron absolute or less in pore size and/or rated by NSF International for cyst removal.
Giardia, also called Giardia lamblia, is a type of single celled, flagellated protozoa. Giardia lives in the small intestine of its host and can infect humans and is one of the most common parasites to infect domestic cats. Water is a frequent carrier of giardia infection. The parasite may be found in swimming pools, hot tubs, streams, ponds, rivers, and lakes that have been contaminated with faeces or sewage.
Giardia infection causes a disease called giardiasis. Symptoms include abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Other symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, weight loss, fatigue, bloating, and flatulence and can typically last about two to six weeks. To avoid infection boil water from potentially untreated sources, or a water filtration system that is 1 micron absolute or less in pore size and/or rated by NSF International can achieve cyst removal.
How does my water quality affect my business?Untreated water can increase utility bills - as little as a sixteenth of scale can reduce efficiency by 11%, costing you 41.4 therms of energy. Scale and corrosion can reduce the efficiency of equipment and shorten its life span. Laundry rewash due to unclean linen and wiping off the spots from dishware costs you money in increased labour, and you may be spending more on chemicals than you would with proper softening or filtering. Chlorine and other substances can adversely affect the taste and smell of food affecting return business and even your reputation.
Reverse Osmosis is the most effective conventional method of water purification for drinking purposes.
H2Only Reverse Osmosis Water System
The Reverse Osmosis process is highly effective in removing a wide range of contaminants from water including heavy metals, chemicals, dissolved salts and micro-organisms. The water is forced through an extremely fine semi-permeable membrane rejecting the contaminated water and leaving only pure, clean and healthy water. Reverse Osmosis is the only effective way to remove fluoride from water.
H2Only can supply the Reverse Osmosis Systems with a range of deluxe faucets.
H2Only 4 Stage Reverse Osmosis System
The H2Only 4 Stage Reverse Osmosis system includes a sediment filter to remove particulate contaminants such as dirt, rust, slime and sand together with a carbon block filter to remove the chemicals which can give your water its objectionable taste, smell and odour. The water is then passed through the reverse osmosis membrane to removed heavy metals and other dissolved contaminants. Finally the water is collected in the 16-litre, pressurised storage tank providing functional pressure at the faucet.
H2Only 5 Stage Reverse Osmosis System
In addition to the 4 Stage system described above the H2Only 5 Stage Reverse Osmosis System includes an additional taste and odour filter which removes any residual taste in the water after it has been stored in the storage tank.

The re-mineraliser (Alkalizer) which contains crushed Marble and or crushed Limestone, it's primary function is to balance the pH to neutral as reverse osmosis water is slightly acidic because the process removes the calcium from the water which acts as a ph buffer. The material contained in the cartridge is a sedimentary rock which is mostly calcium but also contains trace elements of other minerals, we are prevented from supplying a specification sheet as the amount of re-mineralisation is dependant on the pH of the water, if we had the unit tested at say a pH of 6.0 the cartridge would result in an X factor of re-added minerals which would be misleading if the water in your unit on your water supply had a pH of say 6.4 before the re-mineraliser which would result in a lower added amount. The amount of re-added minerals is totally dependant on the pH of the water out of your system so in short the higher the pH the lower the amount of re-added minerals and the lower the final pH the greater the amount of re-added minerals.
The reverse osmosis process can't pick the pepper out of the salt so to speak, so it is better to be sure and remove all the poisons from the water than be worried about the minerals that have been removed. Health experts say that you obtain the minerals that your body needs from your diet, you should not rely on water as a mineral source as there is very little available to the body in water as the minerals are totally dissolved, the re-mineraliser in this system is about balancing the pH as a taste issue.
The re-mineraliser cartridge in this unit can be un-done and some of your own media can be added if you wish.
Main filter unit size, 42 cm high, 42 cm wide & 14 cm deep.
9 litre stainless steel storage tank (exceeds drinking water guidelines) NSF Certified. If space is an issue we also offer a 4.2 litre or 12 litre tank,
Premium systems now have the lowest waste ratio of all systems on the Australian market, using a Patented combination membrane flushing valve/flow restrictor means the waste ratio is about 50% less waste than other brands, waste ratio is now about 1 to 1
PSI Water Systems are on the whole are way superior to just about every system on the market and here is why.
PSI Water Filters imports most of the components used in the systems from the U.S.A., this is because all the good parts are American with the rest mostly being Chinese. There is a huge quality difference between the two. There are some operators that even offer to beat any price offered but if you are comparing apples with apples it wouldn't matter what price they were offered to you for they are still rubbish and have a high risk of failure. There are no volume manufacturers of cartridges in Australia, there are some that purchase the bodies and/or carbon logs and glue the caps on over here but the main parts are purchased from overseas.
We learnt a long time ago that quality and service sells and we are proud of our record that the thousands of customers that have purchased from us in the 9 years that we have been in business that not a single person that we know off is un-happy with either our products or service, in fact most have been pleasantly surprised that the products ordered upon arrival are high in quality, let's face it, buying a water filter product sight unseen off a web page is putting a great deal of trust in the supplier that it will turn up and won't be rubbish. Ask around as it should not be that hard to find a family member or friend that has purchased from us and is delighted with the products and service provided.
Check out with Consumer protection in your state for complaints laid against our competitors, by all means check us out as well and you will find not a single complaint against us, we have two trading names, the retail arm is PSI Water Filter Services and the wholesale arm is Boss Water Systems Australia, we have not operated under any other names. Owners names are Peter Howard & Stephanie Dowd.
We have provided the links to prove our systems are higher quality and this can be verified when the system arrives as the parts are branded and not cheap copies.
We have two quality ranges, the Standard and the Premium.
In the standard range we use a Taiwanese housing that has been tested to Australian Standards AS3497.
In the Premium range we use the American made Pentek 158179 housing, this housing is extremely high in quality and would have very few equals on the market for looks, quality, strength and durability, also meeting and exceeding Australian Standards AS3497, all the fittings used are American with the spout being stainless steel. All cartridges used are NSF standard 42 or higher and either American or British made. The fittings can be found at this web address http://www.qmpusa.com/ Parts used are Diverter # QMP502, spout elbow # QMP503, tube elbow # QMP505 and spout is # QMP507
Undersink Filter Systems
We have two quality ranges, the Standard and the Premium.
In the standard range we use a Taiwanese housing that has been tested to Australian Standards AS3497 and passed but that is where the Asian part ends as the rest of the components are either Australian, British or American.
The mains connection kits supplied with the units are the most compliant that we know off, we know of no other brands that come close to being compliant with some being highly illegal. It costs to supply quality components and very easy for others to under-cut our prices when the components are both illegal and poor quality.
The tube fittings and tube are British, made by the John Guest Company, these fittings and tube are NSF certified for materials purity and pressure rated, the tubing has it's pressure rating stamped on the tube with the NSF logo as well.
All cartridges used are NSF standard 42 or higher and either American or British made.
The fittings can be found at this web address http://www.johnguest.com The part numbers for the fittings used are 2 x PI010822S, 1 X PI010802S, tubing PE-08-BI-1000F-W & locking clips 5 x PIC1808R
The faucets such as the Touch-Flo brand are the genuine items and not the Asian copies that most supply.
In the Premium range we use the American made Pentek 158179 housing, this housing is extremely high in quality and would have very few equals on the market for quality, strength and durability which is also compliant to Australian Standard AS3497.

Reverse Osmosis Systems
Would you like a system that operates without fault year in and year out, to never come home to a flooded out house, then our Premium Undersink Reverse Osmosis system is what you are looking for. We have sold thousands of these systems and don't know of a single one to have ever failed and that is not only the housings or the fittings or the tubing but also the auto shut-off system.
Some of the Asian auto shut-off valves have as high a failure rate as 50% in the first 3 years, we use the American Payne brand of auto shut-off valve in our premium reverse osmosis systems, the Payne Company is very proud of it's 100% record of producing shut-off valves that never fail, these valves cost about four times as much as an Asian unit but quality costs.
Fittings used in the reverse osmosis range are the Genuine Jaco brand that have many poor quality imitators, we use only the genuine Jaco http://www.jacomfg.com/j_fit.html and John Guest http://www.johnguest.com fittings on all of the reverse osmosis range because they are the best available.
There are only two premium quality manufacturers off membranes in the world, one is Dow Filmtec and the other is GE Osmonics (Decal) these two are the world leaders in quality and long membrane life, the rest are poor imitations of these two, PSI Water Filter Services and Boss Water Systems Australia use the Dow Filmtec brand.
The Dow Filmtec brand have so much confidence in their product that the membranes have a 3 year pro-rate guarantee on the membrane.
For even more information about Reverse Osmosis
After extensive testing we are proud to offer you the most advanced Reverse Osmosis system on the market.
We have developed this system as a result of concerns expressed by customers about the amount of waste water that a Reverse Osmosis system produces.
|
Waste ratio of approximately 0.6 litres of waste water to 1 litre produced. |
|
|
Chloramine cartridge (13,000 litres chloramine, 110,000 litres chlorine) |
|
|
Twin pressure gauges to monitor cartridge condition. |
|
|
Hand Held electronic TDS meter to monitor membrane performance |
|
|
Membrane flushing valve for easy maintenance. |
|
|
Aquatec permeate pump to assist waste recovery. |
|
|
Permeate pump increases membrane performance. |
|
|
Permeate pump reduces TDS creep. |
|
|
Permeate pump increases tank pressure and volume. |
|
|
Permeate pump increases performance in low pressure areas. |
|
|
Include re-mineralizer cartridge which also corrects pH. |
|
|
Produces 200 litres per day @ 40 psi, 500+ litres per day at 90 psi mains pressure. |
|
|
2 way drain tap allows you to switch waste to drain or divert to alternative uses such as collection container outside to water plants or into a dripper system resulting is zero waste. Includes 5 metres of extra tubing. |
|
|
Reducing the waste ratio is not magic, without the permeate pump it would not work, reducing the waste ratio is hard on the membrane so we also include a 3 year pro-rata warranty on the membrane as well. |
|

PSI water filters was established in 1997 and was the second water filter company to list their products on the internet in Australia. Metron marketing was the first.
We originally only sold what is our premium system as we didn't wish to service the bottom end of the market which is mostly Chinese manufactured products of varying quality.
We compete in a market where there are many sellers marketing products made in China and some are simply rubbish but they market these goods as quality which we find amusing.
We buy parts from many sources and test them with most going direct into the rubbish bin, you may or may not be aware that about 30 % of water system suppliers in Australia including PSI Water Filters use genuine John Guest and Jaco fittings with the rest using the non genuine copies of inferior quality. See the genuine fittings at these two web sites www.johnguest.com and http://www.jacomfg.com/j_fit_cat.html
PSI Water Filters and Boss Water Systems Australia needed to be able to compete with these Asian imports so we developed the Standard range which started out by buying Taiwanese housings that meet Australian Standards, the Jaco copy fittings we purchased went in the rubbish bin and we elected to use genuine Jaco and John Guest fittings for reliability, we also decided to use all NSF certified cartridges, tubing and parts. So the real difference between the standard and the premium range is the housings, faucet, bracket and warranty.
The Premium range is second to nothing on the market, in fact there are very few systems to match it for quality, durability and reliability and that is why we offer the 10 year warranty on these systems as they don't give any trouble. They feature the best housing on the market, best fittings and only the finest quality cartridges all NSF listed.
PSI Water Filters caters to middle of the market with the standard range and top of the market with the premium range, we have no interest in supplying the bottom end of the market.
Australian made housings and filters, we wish, there is one manufacturer of housings in Australia and that is American owned, we have stocked these housings before and they gave us nothing but trouble with leaking around the ports and now refuse to stock them until they improve, there is another which is totally Australian but after 2 years of trials it is yet to pass testing so we will wait on that one. There is no bulk manufacturer of cartridges in Australia, there are a few that glue the caps on here and claim they are Australian made but they simply are not.
Sediment filters supplied from most other suppliers are now of Asian origin, we also can buy these cartridges and they cost heaps less, if we import them direct ourselves we can buy them for around $0.30 USD each so we can land them wholesale for around AUD 50 cents each. We have tested them and from the 0.5 to 20 micron there is no difference in weight or flow rates at a given pressure, from our testing we believe all are the same cartridge with different stickers attached. We supply only the U.S. made Purtrex brand and testing shows differences between the cartridges, pick up a box of 5 micron and then pick up a box of 1 micron cartridges and the box of one microns is quite a bit heavier.
Carbon cartridges, we use only cartridges meeting NSF standard 42 as this guarantees the materials the cartridge is constructed off are pure from contaminating chemicals and are obtained from pure virgin sources. You will see Asian cartridges with a picture of the American flag on the label but it isn't from the states, has no NSF listing or EPA certification.
We have cut up Chinese carbon cartridges that claimed to be 1 micron and to believe that they were less than 50 micron you would have to believe that there are Fairies living at the bottom of your garden, these cartridges are produced from any cheap raw material they can get their hands on and manufacture and sell to anybody they can with little regard for quality or purity. Let the buyer beware, remember this is something that you are going to put into your body, quality and price do not always go together.
We are aware that many people relate price to quality and on the whole this is correct, we are well aware that if we charged more for our products we would most likely sell more than we do with greatly improved profit margins, but we make our margins on quantity sold and rely on the customers positive impressions of our products to not only return themselves but to recommend us to their friends and family which they do. Take the Matrikx pB1 which sell in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane for around $90.00 each cartridge, we sell the same cartridge for $40.00 each and they are the genuine article, we buy in bulk and have low overheads which means you save.
Cheers
